Double Oak Congratulates Mayor Patrick Johnson and Town Council Members Pat Wellen and Mike Gwartney on their Swearing-in on Monday Evening

Double Oak Citizens in attendance and on the Double Oak YouTube channel participated in the swearing-in of the new Mayor, Patrick Johnson, and two new Town Council Members, Pat Wellen and Mike Gwartney, during the scheduled Town Council meeting on Monday evening.

In the council chambers, each candidate was sworn in by the Honorable Judge Robert Ramirez (Denton County Court at Law #2).  A large crowd witnessed the ceremony and the celebration of outgoing Town Council Members Scott Whisenhunt and Casey Garrison Parsons.  A special proclamation was made to appoint outgoing Mayor Mike Donnelly, Double Oak Mayor Emeritus, and celebrated Monday, May 15th, 2023, as Mike Donnelly appreciation day.

“It was quite an evening of celebration,” said incoming Mayor Patrick Johnson.  “I look forward to representing the citizens and town of Double Oak as well as working with the town council during my term as Mayor.”

There was town council business that took place as well.  Current Deputy Mayor Pro-Tem, Connie Schoenrade, was appointed the new Mayor Pro-Tem of Double Oak, and Mike Gwartney was appointed Deputy Mayor Pro-Tem.  The new council members will join Mayor Pro Tem Connie Schoenrade and Council Member Jean Hillyer as the newly seated Double Oak Town Council.

The vacancy to fill the seat that Mayor Johnson vacated will be nominated and voted on at the June 5th Town Council meeting.

Please join the town of Double Oak in congratulating our new Mayor, Patrick Johnson, and Town Council Members Pat Wellen and Mike Gwartney.
