Town Communication: Winter Storm (February 1, 2023)

Double Oak Town Hall Snow Picture

Hello Double Oak residents,

Hope everyone is doing alright during this winter weather event. Hopefully this multi day weather event will come to an end on Friday.

The four P’s Cold Weather Tips

  1. Protect People - Check on elderly and vulnerable neighbors
  2. Protect Pets - Bring pets inside
  3. Protect Pipes - Cover exterior pipes and drip inside faucets. Know how to shut off water in the event of a broken water pipe
  4. Protect Plants  Cover plants or bring them inside

I want to provide some updates and acknowledgments.

Town Hall remains closed. Administration staff are working remotely from their homes and we appreciate them.

I know you join council and I thanking our Double Oak Police and Volunteer Fire Department for their service during these dangerous conditions and we hope for their safety at all times. (Please visit the How to contact DOPD or DOVFD page for information on how to contact them during an emergency)

Denton County is currently under a Winter Storm Warning and Ice Storm Warning with potential for significant ice and its impact on roads, infrastructure, trees and power lines. (Ice Storm Warning article from the Cross Timbers Gazette)

* Town Hall is waiting for information from Republic Services on whether recycle & trash collection routes will be run Friday or be adjusted to a different day. The town will communicate as soon as receive guidance from Republic Services.
