Volunteers Needed

On the day of the celebration, we will need volunteers to help with set up, carnival games, concessions, museum, and clean-up. If you volunteer for at least one two-hour time slot, you will receive a 50th Birthday volunteer T-shirt as a thank you.  To get the right size t-shirt you must have signed up by Monday, April 29th as t-shirt orders must be placed that Tuesday to arrive on time for the event.

Preliminary Schedule of Events for May 18th

Here's a draft schedule for Saturday, May 18th, though please note that times are subject to change. The final schedule will be posted on the town website and emailed out next week.

50th Birthday Celebration Schedule of Events (All times are approximate)

Noon – 5:00 pm

Carnival games, Vendor /Craft Booths, Food vendors (residents eat free with ID; non-residents $15 per meal), Historical Museum. Face Painting, Photo Booth etc.

12:00 – 12:30 pm

Flag Ceremony and Celebration kick-off with the introduction by Mayor Patrick Johnson of Area Dignitaries, Former Mayors, Former and Current Council Members, 50th Birthday logo contest winner and Time Capsule.

12:30 – 1:00 pm

Bonnie Morrow will recognize the founders of Double Oak with introduction of Mr. and Mrs. Double Oak. Followed by Max Miller of the Cross Timbers Gazette will interview some of the first residents of Double Oak.

1:00 – 1:20 pm

Little Mr. and Miss. Double Oak Contest, see flyer on website for entry form or check in at registration table by 12:30 on May 18th.  Parent or grandparent must be resident of Double Oak.

To help us plan for the number of participants in the pageant, please preregister by downloading the registration form found on the bottom of this page and return it to town hall or email the completed form to Pat.Wellen@doubleoak.texas.gov

1:20 – 1:30 pm

50th Birthday Cake cutting
Cake Walk – bring cakes to pavilion by 1pm.  Will be held throughout the afternoon while baked good are available.

1:30 – 4:30 pm

Live Music by Double Oak residents Pete and Patti Fisher and Molly Dobbins.

4:30 – 5:00 pm

Recognition of Retirement of Eileen Kennedy Town Secretary and acknowledgment of: additional Town Administration, Double Oak Police Department, National Police Week, Double Oak Volunteer Fire Department, Double Oak Women’s Club, and 50th Birthday Celebration Sponsors and Birthday Event Volunteers.

5:00 - 6:00 pm

Park area clean-up and 70’s dance party set-up.

6:00 – 9:30 pm

70’s Dance party with DJ and 70’s attire contest.  Come dressed up and ready to dance to your favorite 70’s tunes.  Light snacks, water and sodas will be available while supplies last. B.Y.O.B. for adults over age 21, no beer will be served.
