Friday Update for 12/08

Due to the mayor being in South Texas Thurs-Sun the Friday update for this week is brief and repetitive.

However, this weekend we have two very important events happening at the town hall and in your neighborhoods and on your streets.  Please enjoy and have a wonderful weekend.

Mayor Johnson

Waketon Road is Officially Completed on December 5th, 2023.

On Tuesday Dec 5th, at then Denton County commissioner’s court, our Waketon Road project was officially completed.  There were outstanding circumstances that created an overage on the project.  Denton County stepped up to the plate and assisted in closing this project out and covering the overage so the tax payers of Double Oak would not have too.

A comment by Commissioner Edmondson was that “the project spanned three mayors in Double Oak”.  Judge Eads responded that it “spanned three presidents as this was the last remaining project from the Trip 2008 Road Bond Package”.

Rest assured in 2024 Double Oak will begin planning with our citizens regarding the Trip 2022 Bond package and Kings Road.

Winter Children’s Event Saturday, December 9th – Double Oak Town Hall

Come visit with the man himself and tell him what you want for Christmas.

Santa and his Fire Engine Red Sleigh will take flight on Sunday, December 10th, starting at noon, and travel from the west side of town to the east.

Ho Ho Ho, keep your ear to the ground and listen for the DOVFD siren wail.  The DOVFD cannot wait to see all the Double Oak Citizens next weekend.

DOVFD and Double Oak Fire Hydrants Update

DOVFD, in partnership with Cross Timbers Water Supply, performed light maintenance on Double Oak fire hydrants last weekend.  From speaking with Chief Erik, all went well with very little issues.

When this occurs next on the next maintenance test the Chief mentioned splitting the town in half and down east then west on separate days.  As usual the DOVFD is on top of what they do for the town.

Thank you, Team DOVFD!!!

Double Oak Police Department's New Speed Tracker Trailer

Next weeks update will include two weeks of data.  Due to limited connectivity I am unable to download the statistics today, sorry for the delay.

Reminders:

The Denton County Burn Ban Is No Longer in Effect

Due to recent rainfall, Denton County Commissioners lifted the county's burn ban Friday.

Despite the removal of the prohibition, Friday is not considered a "good burn day" by the county due to excessive wind speed.

The disposal of vegetation by open burning is allowed in unincorporated Denton County and some cities, but only on "good burn days."

Whether each day is a "good burn day" or "bad burn day" is determined each morning between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m.
