Crash Reports

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is the custodian of crash records for the State of Texas. Texas Transportation Code §550.062 requires any law enforcement officer who in the regular course of duty investigates a motor vehicle crash that results in injury to or the death of a person or damage to the property of any one person to the apparent extent of $1,000 or more, to submit a written report of that crash to TxDOT not later than the 10th day after the date of the crash.

How soon will my report be available for purchase after my crash?

Texas Transportation Code (TTC) 550.062 requires a law enforcement officer who investigates a crash and completes a Texas Peace Officer's Report (CR-3) to submit the report to the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) not later than the 10th day after the date of the crash. Once the report is received by TxDOT, it may take up to 4 business days to process. If you are attempting to search for a recent crash report and receive no results, you may try your search again at a later date.
