DOVFD Maintenance on Double Oak Fire Hydrants on Saturday, December 2nd, 2023

DOVFD, in partnership with Cross Timbers Water Supply, will perform light maintenance on Double Oak fire hydrants.

The DOVFD does not expect any impact on residents other than the trucks will be parked in the street and flowing water, which will temporarily create wet spots on streets and yards.

You may have noticed many hydrants have already been painted red.  This indicates that they have already undergone complete maintenance by Cross Timbers, which they do on a rolling basis.  The DOVFD does not control that schedule or color.

Annual Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day - SUCCESS

2023 Turkey Trot Crowd

The Double Oak Annual Turkey Trot was held on the morning of Thanksgiving Day.  The 5K had 718 participants, probably another 100 or so in the 1K walk.  Riley Nedrow was the overall winner for the men and Charlotte Hoffman for the ladies in the 5K.

The weather was perfect, and many citizens enjoyed the Run/Walk from their front porches and driveways. Geoff does a fantastic job with this event and gathers superstar volunteers to assist.  All had a Great Time; rumor has it Mayor Johnson finished in just over an hour in 679th place and last in his age group. He enjoyed the many stops along the way visiting with citizens and his special walk that morning with Mary!

Santa Claus is Coming to Double Oak – on Sunday, December 10th, Starting at noon!

A cartoon of a fire truck with Santa and Reindeer

Come visit with the man himself and tell him what you want for Christmas.

Santa and his Fire Engine Red Sleigh will take flight on Sunday, December 10th, starting at noon, and travel from the west side of town to the east.

Ho Ho Ho, keep your ear to the ground and listen for the DOVFD siren wail.  The DOVFD cannot wait to see all the Double Oak Citizens next weekend.

Reminders:

The Denton County Burn Ban Is No Longer in Effect

Due to recent rainfall, Denton County Commissioners lifted the county's burn ban Friday.

Despite the removal of the ban, Friday is not considered a "good burn day" by the county due to excessive wind speed.

The disposal of vegetation by open burning is allowed in unincorporated Denton County and some cities, but only on "good burn days."

The determination of whether each day is a "good burn day" or "bad burn day" is made each morning between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m.
