Double Oak Holiday Festivities - SUCCESS

It has been a busy couple of weeks in Double Oak with Holiday Traditions and Festivals.  On Monday, December 4th, the town hosted its annual tree lighting at the park.  Many families were on hand for the event that came off without a “hitch.”. Our new Double Oak Volunteer Fire Chief, Erik Eichinger, lit the tree.

The town staff, led by Eileen and Lynn, treated all who joined with cookies and hot chocolate. Randall and Chief Rivas did an outstanding job of getting our lights up.

Councilperson Mark Dietrich, with now Mayor Pro Tem Mike Gwartney’s assistance, provided our updated sound system for the pavilion.

And, of course, the main attraction was Santa Claus, who rode on the Double Oak Volunteer Fire Engine and met with everyone, young and old.  All had a great time.

The Double Oak Women's Club hosted their Children's Event on Saturday at the town hall. Although the mayor was out of town, I understand the event was a huge success, and everyone enjoyed it.

The main attraction of the Holiday Season in Double Oak is the Annual visit by Santo to every street in Double Oak, which took place last Sunday. The weather was outstanding, and the sound of the sirens across the town told everyone that Santa was visiting his favorite town in Texas.

Much appreciation to all who volunteered and those who joined these annual festivities. We look forward to doing it all again in 2024.

Denton County 2024 Board of Directors Elected Central Appraisal District (CAD)

At the last Double Oak Town Council meeting, the council cast two votes for Alex Buck. Good news: Alex was appointed to the board and will do an excellent job for the citizens of Denton County.

He is joined on the board by Roy Atwood, Charles Stafford, David Terre, and Ann Pomykal.

Reminders:

The Denton County Burn Ban Is No Longer in Effect

Due to recent rainfall, Denton County Commissioners lifted the county's burn ban Friday.

Despite the removal of the ban, Friday is not considered a "good burn day" by the county due to excessive wind speed.

The disposal of vegetation by open burning is allowed in unincorporated Denton County and some cities, but only on "good burn days."

The determination of whether each day is a "good burn day" or "bad burn day" is made each morning between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m.
