Warning freezing temperatures are projected to arrive Thursday, December 22nd, 2022, in the early morning hours and will last possibly through Christmas day.

Here are a few helpful reminders while preparing for cold snap.

Check on elderly neighbors

Bring pets inside

Turn off sprinkler system

Locate main water shutoff in the event you need to shut of the water to your home (CTWSC water meter box in yard) 

Have a water shut off key or wrench ready for use in the event you need to turn off the water main to your home

Cover outdoor pipes and faucets to prevent freezing

Open sink cabinets to allow warm air flow to the water pipes

Let inside faucets drip HOT & COLD water

If a water pipe burst and you need assistance, call 9-1-1 and tell dispatcher you need Double Oak Volunteer Fire Department to come help
