CRIME ALERT

On Tuesday June 9, 2020 at approximately 1:20 a.m. officers responded to a suspicious circumstance call in the 200 blk. of Timber Leaf, Double Oak.  A homeowner heard a noise and went to the garage to investigate.  The witness found both of their unlocked vehicles had been rummaged through by an unknown person or person(s).  As of the time of report nothing is missing.

On Wednesday May 27, 2020 at approximately 8:00 a.m., in the 200 blk. of Timber Leaf, a resident discovered that an unknown person had entered their unlocked vehicle, started it with a spare key and backed the vehicle into a ditch leaving it idling in the front yard.

A few important things to note.  Entering a habitation without permission (i.e. entering the garage)  is Criminal Trespass a Class "A" misdemeanor.  If any property were missing there is the possibility that the offender could be charged with Burglary of a Habitation a Felony 2.  Operating a person's vehicle without permission is Unlawful Use of a Motor Vehicle a state jail felony.

Based upon the lack of property loss and poor driving skills we are very concerned that the offender(s) are youthful.  Parents, please be aware of your child or teen's location at night.  Entering a neighbor's domicile, without permission, or stealing property during hours of darkness could result in serious bodily injury or death.  Homeowners are rightfully concerned about their safety when strangers enter their residence or property with the intent to commit theft, property damage or assault.

Residents, you are advised to close garage doors, remove valuable contents from vehicles and lock your car doors.

If you see suspicious behavior late at night or early in the morning, please contact 9-1-1 so an officer can respond.

Persons with information about these offenses are asked to contact Investigator Murphy at (972) 355-5995.
