National Police Week

Police Week 2022
Event Date:
Sunday, May 15, 2022 (All day) to Saturday, May 21, 2022 (All day)

National Police Week occurs every May, and in 2022 we will be observing Police Week from May 11–17.

In 1962, President Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15 falls, as National Police Week. Established by a joint resolution of Congress in 1962, National Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.

This year the Double Oak Police Department will be honoring Officer Mestas and Officer Sneed, along with other Denton County officers who have lost their lives over the years. The event will be held on May 11, 2022, from 12:00-1:00 at the Denton County amphitheater and memorial park. We encourage our citizens to attend this event to pay tribute to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice of giving their lives in the line of duty.
