Officer John Mestas

The Double Oak Police Department is mourning the loss of Officer John Mestas who passed away Monday following a battle with COVID-19. Officer Mestas started with the Double Oak Police Department in November of 2021.

Prior to joining the Double Oak Police Department, Officer Mestas had served the North Texas area for 15 years, including the Hillsboro Police Department, Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, Tarrant County Hospital District Police Department, and Somervell County Sheriff’s Office. Officer Mestas was also a veteran of the United States Army and the United States Air Force Reserves. Officer Mestas was 45 years old and is survived by his wife of four years and four children.

Please keep Officer Mestas’ family, as well as our entire police community, in your thoughts and prayers, as we all try to find comfort and peace in these trying times.

Services Information:

Visitation/Rosary is going to be on February 22nd from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Skyvue Memorial Gardens Funeral Home located at 7220 Rendon Bloodworth Rd, Mansfield, TX.

The funeral is going to be on February 23rd at Saint Ann Catholic Church in Burleson located at 100 SW Alsbury Blvd. at 10 a.m.

Interment will follow at Skyvue Memorial Gardens.
