Double Oak Voters Elect New Mayor and Town Council

Double Oak voters set a new town record with more than 800 votes cast in the recent Mayor & Town Council election. 

Congratulations to Mayor-Elect Patrick Johnson. 

Congratulations to Council Member-Elect Pat Wellen and Council Member-Elect Mike Gwartney.

The official canvassing of the election results and administering the Oaths of Office will be conducted at the Monday, May 15, 2023 Town Council meeting at 7:00 pm. Residents are encouraged to attend the swearing-in ceremony.At the May 15 meeting, the town will express its thanks to departing Council Members Scott Whisenhunt and Casey Garrison Parsons. The Town of Double Oak and citizens sincerely thank both for their honored service.

Best wishes to the future Town Council being Mayor Patrick Johnson and Town Council Members Connie Schoenrade, Jean Hillyer, Pat Wellen and Mike Gwartney.

The town council will begin discussion how to fill the vacant council seat.

National Police Week Sunday, May 14, 2023 - Saturday, May 20, 2023

National Police Week offers honor, remembrance, and peer support, while allowing law enforcement, survivors, and citizens to gather and pay homage to those who gave their lives in the line of duty.
When you see Double Oak Police Officers and Double Oak Volunteer Firefighters give them a smile, a wave and tell them thanks for their service.

* Officer John Mestas and Officer Lonnie Sneed names are being added to the National Peace Officers Memorial in Washington D.C. this weekend.

Memorial stones for all three DOPD Fallen Officers have been added to the Mayor Tom Pidcock Flagpole Memorial located at Double Oak Town Hall.

27th Annual Denton County Fallen Officers Memorial

The 27th Annual Denton County Fallen Officers Memorial will be held at the Denton County Administrative Courthouse Amphitheater on May 17, 2023, from 10 - 11 a.m.

This event honors law enforcement officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice of their lives in the line of duty. Their lives will be remembered and honored.

This is an event that is open to the public, and all are encouraged to come to honor and remember our fallen heroes.

Memorial Day Flag Display in the J. B. Wright Park

Happy to let everyone know that resident Ashley Hart and her volunteers will again this year set up the Memorial Day Flag Display in the J. B. Town's 50th Anniversary Logo Contest

The town's 50th Anniversary is coming up in 2024 and as part of the celebration the Anniversary Planning Committee is kicking off a logo design contest. The Double Oak 50th Anniversary logo design competition is meant to be a fun and community minded activity open to all ages. We want to see the creativity of our citizens and how you would show what makes Double Oak a great place to live. Farewell Message from Mayor Mike Donnelly

It is an honor and privilege to represent and serve the residents and town. I am proud of the work we have done together over the years. Our small town of Double Oak is a place where folks live and work together. We have a community where neighbors care and help one another. It is truly a town of volunteers. It is a wonderful place we all call home.

My appreciation and thanks to the town’s great employees, public safety departments, council colleagues over the years, our community partners including the Double Oak Women's Club and the residents for all you do for the town. Your contributions and efforts are what make Double Oak so special.
