2024-04-05 - Braums Opening Celebration 2

The Town of Double Oak will be forever grateful to have been associated with a business like Braums and how it will contribute to our town.  If you have not stopped to enjoy your favorite food, ice cream, or market items, please do so.

Thank you to Bartek Kaminski, Shiela Millender, Meranda Palma, and Amanda Beuchaw of Braums for allowing Double Oak to participate in these Grand Ceremonies.

Double Oak Road and Drainage Survey – Please Participate

The TRIPP 2022 bond election included a possible Kings Road project as part of the bond package.

While we do not know when the county will have money available for the project, the Council would like to start collecting feedback from residents so that the town is ready and has a plan when Denton County has funding for the project.

This survey is the first step in hearing from you – it will not be the last step.

Below is the URL and QR code for the survey if you want to take it electronically, or it can be found on the town website to download, fill out, and return to town hall.

If you prefer, printed copies will also be available at the town hall for you to fill out there.

Volunteer Opportunities

On the day of the celebration, we will need volunteers to help man carnival games, give residents tickets, set up, clean up, and sell t-shirts and hats.  This is just a heads-up so people can mark their calendars to volunteer.  We will have sign-up capabilities in March, showing jobs and time slots available.  If you volunteer for a three-hour time slot, you will receive a 50th Birthday volunteer t-shirt as a thank-you for your service.  So – watch for the sign-up on the town website in March and an announcement in future Friday Blast Newsletters.

Double Oak Volunteer Fire Department – CPR Class for Double Oak Citizens

“Double Oak Volunteer Fire Department (DOVFD) supports the American Heart Association's Hands-Only™ CPR. Most people who experience cardiac arrest at home, work, or in a public location die because they don't receive immediate CPR from someone on the scene. When administered immediately, Hands-Only CPR can help triple the chances of survival.

DOVFD is offering a free, one-hour class where participants will learn about cardiac arrest and how to recognize it’s happening, the three simple steps of Hands-only CPR, and receive a basic overview of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

Attendance is limited to the first 20 people who register. For more information or to register for the class, contact Lieutenant Craig Apfel at LT551@dovfd.org.”

Reminders

The Denton County Burn Ban Is No Longer in Effect

Due to recent rainfall, Denton County Commissioners lifted the county's burn ban Friday.

Despite the removal of the prohibition, Friday is not considered a "good burn day" by the county due to excessive wind speed.

Vegetation disposal by open burning is allowed in unincorporated Denton County and some cities, but only on "good burn days."

Whether each day is a "good burn day" or "bad burn day" is determined each morning between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m.
